Educational Materials from Rescue Resources
First Steps and Simply Language have been designed and developed with the busy teacher and children in mind. We realised that there was a shortage of this type of attractive, useful, child and teacher friendly educational material and so we set out to rectify that error.
First Steps was designed to capture and retain children’s natural enthusiasm for learning new languages. The colourful and simple format of the books achieves this as it incorporates normal everyday school situations, which the children can relate to.
The teacher’s book has the text translated into English in order to boost confidence and make teaching a foreign language less stressful.
The children’s books have translations of new words and phrases and comprehension exercises in English and the chosen foreign language. These may be used in a variety of ways according to the ability of the children or at the discretion of the teacher
- Read the questions in English and answer in the foreign language
- Read and answer the question in the foreign language
- Read the question in the foreign language and answer in English
- Translate the questions and answers
- The children may use the text books during this activity or the teacher may photocopy the comprehension exercises and use them at their discretion
- The comprehension activities may be used as assessment activities
- These activities may be used by the children as written or oral tasks with the teacher or amongst themselves
Simply Language
These worksheets, pictures and flashcards were designed to make learning fun for both the teacher and children. The unique pictures have been designed to help the visual learners to associate them with the words and so remember them more readily.
The worksheets contain a variety of activities including, wordsearch, crosswords, find the missing letter, match words and pictures etc. When required, answer sheets are provided to aid in the correction by the teacher or self marking by the children. Each worksheet also contains a self assessment section for the children to complete.
Simply Art
Once again in this area of the school curriculum we felt there was a need for colourful, interesting and new material for both teacher and children. The detailed lesson plans provided are for the teachers to use at their discretion. Some may not require such detail, but it is there for those who need it. The exemplars for each lesson may be printed out or used on the computer according to resources of the individual school. We feel that the use of colour in art is very important for the teacher and children to fully understand and appreciate the content of the lesson.
We have included lessons for composite classes to make planning lessons easier for the teacher. The skills being practiced are the same or similar but the lesson is different. This avoids some children repeating lessons.
When the work of established artists have been used, the names of the artist and the work have been provided for the benefit of the teacher. Included too is the art from various cultures to give the children an understanding and appreciation of a variety of cultures and art forms.
Simply Posters
These posters have been designed and produced to reduce the workload of the class teacher and to provide a stimulating learning environment for the children.
Simply Language, Simply Art and Simply Posters, once purchased, may be printed as required by the school without limit for use in that school only.
